av98m SG I want my area to be contested because I want to be able to put my money where my mouth is and vote against the ruling party. I did that last GE and I'll do that again this time. See, this is what I don't get about many Singaporeans. They bitch and moan about the ruling party and yet are too lazy to vote. Or worse, vote for the ruling party again out of fear or greed. I'm hoping(although it is highly unlikely), that the opposition actually captures a GRC and shakes the ruling party out of their arrogance and complacency.
Fatum SG I haven't voted before either ... but I wouldn't cast my vote along party lines ... I'll have to see the candidate's face first .... else it'll be like ... ermmm .... "cutting off your own stalk to spite a particular jade gate " eh ? .... damm ! ... I love James Claviel novels ..... "Taipan" anyone ? ...
Rhonda SG The last time some opposition contested here, he was such a sad candidate that it was an utter waste of time! I will not vote for the opposition for the sake of having opposition. If they are not up to the mark, they won't get my vote, period. And if they aren't up to the mark in the first place, please don't even bother contesting cause it is just a waste of our time! This time round though, there are quite a few good candidates for the opposition parties. However, mom and I wince each time a few of them speak cause they cannot even express themselves well. Bleah!
av98m SG The reason why I will vote "blindly" for the opposition is simply this: If people showed greater willingness to give the opposition a chance, it will in fact help to attract better candidates for the opposition. Sure there will be some growing pains involved, but you've got to break a few eggs to make an omelette. The ruling party fosters fear via the generally kiasee Singaporeans to their advantage. A friend once told me this "even if a monkey wearing golden underwear showed up to contest against the ruling party incumbent I'd vote for the monkey"
av98m SG And Lily Neo looks the best from the ruling party. Wait...are we discussing credentials or looks?
Rhonda SG I soooooo feel like hopping on the MRT to Changi Airport to eat Popeye's, but I think before I reach the place, will starve to death liao! Siiiigh... some other time bah...
Rhonda SG *stomach growls very audibly... OK, it's either going to be a quick trip to Holland V, or a hop across the road to the kopitiam. C'ya later!
Rhonda SG You say this because you're young, and short-sighted! Hey, YOU will be 40 someday too, y'know... and for you, time shall whizz by like a Concorde! OK, makan time!
